Some flowers have a way of filling a room with joy.

For me, sunflowers have always carried that kind of quiet optimism. Their generous blooms seem to naturally turn towards the light, bringing warmth and life wherever they are placed. Rather than arranging them in an elaborate vessel, I loved the honesty of placing them in a simple glass jar, allowing their beauty to speak for itself.

I've always been fascinated by the way beautiful light transforms both ordinary and extraordinary subjects. As the light filtered through the glass, it created delicate reflections and subtle shifts in colour, while the sunflowers became the unmistakable heart of the composition. It was a reminder that the simplest arrangements are often the most meaningful.

Rachel's Posy celebrates those everyday moments of beauty—a handful of freshly gathered flowers, a well-loved glass jar and the gentle light that brings them both to life. My hope is that this painting carries a sense of warmth, joy and quiet contentment into the home where it hangs.
