From My Easel
I've always been drawn to collections. It makes walking into op shops and antique stores a dangerous exercise!
A single vessel has its own quiet beauty, but when several are gathered together, each one begins to enhance the others. Different heights, shapes, textures and tones create a conversation that simply couldn't exist alone.
As I arranged these well-loved vessels, it wasn't just the composition that interested me. It was the relationships between the objects. Then, as the light gently moved across their surfaces, each vessel revealed its own character while contributing to something much greater than itself.
I've always been fascinated by the way beautiful light transforms both ordinary and extraordinary subjects. In this painting, it also became a reminder that we are much the same. We each bring something unique, yet there is a richness found in community that cannot be created in isolation.
Together is Better is my celebration of belonging, connection and the quiet beauty that emerges when we gather.
About This Composition
Together is Better features a harmonious arrangement of vessels, painted in Heidi Emma's signature tonal impressionist style. Beautiful natural light, earthy textures and a restrained palette create a contemporary still life that celebrates connection, balance and the quiet beauty of everyday objects.
