From My Easel
The Olivacea, a flower that doesn’t shout to be noticed, rewards those who pause to observe its delicate beauty.
Some paintings begin with an arrangement.
This one began with a prayer.
As I placed a single stem of this favourite grevillea into a simple ceramic vessel, I was struck by how beautifully the morning light transformed such an uncomplicated scene. The light softened every edge, revealing texture, colour and life that might otherwise have gone unnoticed.
I've always been fascinated by the way light can transform the simplest of subjects into something extraordinary. To me, those moments are gentle reminders to slow down, to notice, and to respond with gratitude.
The title, To My Knees May I Fall, reflects that quiet response. It speaks of humility, wonder and thankfulness for the beauty woven throughout creation. My hope is that this painting encourages you to pause long enough to notice those moments for yourself.
About This Composition
To My Knees May I Fall features a single Australian grevillea arranged in a handcrafted ceramic vessel, painted in Heidi Emma's signature tonal impressionist style. Soft natural light, expressive brushwork and a restrained earthy palette create a peaceful still life that celebrates Australian botanicals, simplicity and the quiet beauty revealed through light.
