A single banksia catches the warmth of the afternoon light, its sculptural form illuminated against a deep blue backdrop. Resting in a simple white vessel upon my grandmother's treasured oak table, this quiet arrangement became a study of light, contrast and the beauty found in everyday moments.

Painted in oils with expressive brushwork and a restrained palette, Standing in the Sun invites the viewer to pause and appreciate the peace that can be found in slowing down and truly noticing.

For me, this painting also carries a deeper meaning. Just as we instinctively seek the warmth of the sun, it reminds me of the comfort, hope and peace found in standing in the presence of God's Son. It is a gentle reflection on light—not only the light we see, but the light that brings life to our hearts.
