"New Perspective" thrusts Australian Native flowers and foliage into the foreground, as if they are singing, “Look at me! Notice my form, my texture.” The angular form of the banksia leaves and the satisfying fuzziness of its flower head were both delightful and challenging to capture, especially when my application of paint is usually expressive ad not usually as linear. I was delighted to encounter so many colours in one set of leaves. By presenting this scene from an unconventional angle, I invite viewers to reconsider the familiar and discover the beauty that emerges from a shift in perspective.
