Wildflower Walk
Wildflower Walk
Inspired by the spectacular wildflowers found along the Cape to Cape Track, this time on the stretch between Cape Naturaliste and Smith’s Beach, Wildflower Walk celebrates the beauty of Western Australia's coastal bushland. This fine art print combines native flora, soft light and a peaceful atmosphere, bringing the essence of a favourite walking trail into your home.
From My Easel
The Cape to Cape Track is one of my favourite places to walk, especially during wildflower season when the coastal heath comes alive with colour. There is something incredibly peaceful about wandering through the native bush, surrounded by wildflowers, while knowing the ocean is never far away.
Wildflower Walk was inspired by one of those walks closest to home, between Cape Naturaliste and Smiths Beach. Rather than focusing on a sweeping coastal view, I wanted to celebrate the beauty found underfoot and along the path—the delicate wildflowers, textured foliage and gentle light that make this trail so memorable.
This piece begun with a smaller en plein air study (Called Wildflower Walk Mini which you can discover in my collection) to get the colours and sense of place right. Later in the studio I used this to create this larger work. Using loose brushstrokes and a restrained palette, I hoped to capture not just the appearance of the landscape, but the quiet joy of walking slowly enough to notice the details that are so easily missed.
About This Place
Stretching approximately 135 kilometres from Cape Naturaliste to Cape Leeuwin, the Cape to Cape Track is one of Australia's most celebrated coastal walking trails. Between Cape Naturaliste and Smiths, the path winds through granite headlands, coastal heath and native bushland, offering spectacular ocean views alongside an extraordinary display of wildflowers during the flowering season.
Wildflower Walk celebrates this remarkable stretch of coastline—not only for its breathtaking scenery, but for the quieter beauty found among the native plants that thrive beside the trail.
