From My Easel

There is something wonderfully peaceful about the end of the day at Geographe Bay. As the sun begins to set, the water becomes almost glass-like, reflecting soft golds, blues and gentle pastel tones that seem to slow time itself.

I painted Geographe Bay Sundowner to capture that familiar feeling of lingering just a little longer by the water. It's the kind of evening that encourages conversation, quiet reflection and gratitude for the simple beauty of the moment.

Rather than chasing every detail, I focused on the changing light and atmosphere, using loose brushstrokes and a restrained palette to evoke the calm that settles over the bay as daylight fades.

I hope this painting serves as a gentle reminder to pause, breathe deeply and savour the beauty that can be found at the close of an ordinary day.

About This Place

Stretching in a wide arc from Cape Naturaliste to Busselton, Geographe Bay is one of Western Australia's most treasured coastal landscapes. Sheltered from the open ocean, its calm turquoise waters, long sandy beaches and spectacular sunsets have made it a favourite destination for generations of locals and visitors alike.

Whether it's an evening swim or fish, a stroll along the foreshore or simply sitting quietly as the colours change across the water, Geographe Bay has a remarkable ability to slow the pace of life. Geographe Bay Sundowner is my celebration of those peaceful evenings that leave you wishing the day didn't have to end.
