How has 2024 been for you, dear follower?
2024 has been a big year for me - moving into our new home after 7 moves in 2 years, planning and producing for my largest and most successful exhibition of my art career and the creation of some of my most favourite artworks yet. I've planted over 400 native plants on our block to revegetate it and hope in time to yield some beautiful foliage and blooms for future still life work. I continue to paint from our kitchen table, and most recently have taken over a corner of our future theatre room, whilst my studio houses a couple during the rental crisis down here.
I've also been a busy beaver setting up our lovely new short stay accommodation on our property Wild Spring, called "The Honey Pot Suite". It was a great new avenue to exercise my creativity and love for interior decorating and I'm so proud to welcome guests in 2025. There is also plans for The Creatives Studio in 2026, where fellow artists or writers can escape to my actual studio space and enjoy a stay, create and even have private tuition with me. You can stay in the loop by following Wild Spring (instagram.com/wildspring_studios).
There’s been some amazing arty highlights:
- my most successful exhibition in Fremantle, 'Perfectly Still',
- being selected to exhibit at Fine Art at Hale in 2025,
- having my work showcased at Rivendell Winery in Yallingup,
- donating my largest landscape painting of Smiths Beach to raise $5000 for the Yallingup Bolunteer Firefighters
- delivering painting workshops to private bookings,
- launching my best print release yet (still available on my website).
In there somewhere, I've managed to educate precious 5 year old humans 2 days a week and have kept my family alive for another year. Winning!
I am incredibly grateful for your support - reading my infrequent newsletters, your encouraging words via email, on Insta, and Facebook, and talking to you in person.
I create because I feel called to, and it is the icing on the cake when my work resonates with you and in turn graces your walls.
What does 2025 hold for me?
We never know what the future holds but I have a few exciting intentions!
One of which is a series of small, affordable paintings released one per week on Sunday afternoons during Autumn. These precious pieces will be released on instagram and available first to those who comment. Keep an eye out!
I am considering participating in the Margaret River Open Studios again in September after a few years break. What do you think? 😉
I can’t wait to capture more of the South West's beautiful landscapes, with a particular focus on small vistas local to my home that you might recognise.
I will continue to take private bookings of groups for workshops, either in the South West or in Perth. To inquire or book, just hit reply and I can fill you in. In short, if you gather 4 or more people, I can come to you or set up at a lovely venue and teach you my technique.
I’d better get back to the Christmas festivities!
Wishing you and your family a wonderful Christmas and a peaceful start to 2025.
Take care and chat soon,
Heidi Emma
